Addicted to Chaos! - Aaryan Sinha

Health & Mind Club

“Hey look, I can smoke puffs of rings and can pass my finger through it!", sounds cool, but no …… it’s not cool! Holding that little cylindrical piece of white-orange paper in the middle of your fingers, lighting it with a lighter and smoking it like a chimney is what many people call a trend!

We all see adverts regarding "Smoking causes Cancer" and "Say NO to smoking!", but the fact is when it comes to reality, we really don't do much. Recall the number of times we have seen people sitting on our porch and smoking and the number of times we have told them not to do so!

Why Smoking in the first place?

Well, simply because everyone else does it! Cigarettes are a cheaply available poison and the fact that there are no restrictions on its use makes it a convenient task.

Oh! The Irony!

What's even more interesting to note is that people at sports bars watch the fittest people on the planet in action but spoil their health at the same time by smoking and drinking!

So... What does it have to do with Mental Health?

Plenty. The biggest impact of smoking is on mental health. People have said that smoking still has a profound effect on their minds even after they have quit smoking. Many people have said that they resort to smoking as it invokes a feeling of relaxation in their minds and acts as a 'stress-buster' during times of anxiety and a companion during times of loneliness.

Adolescents are most prone to influence as in today's world, they take the most stress. Anything that looks like it can relieve stress is what they first pick up. This ranges from social media, games, food, drugs, and smoking.

What Now?

It's never too late to give up smoking! All it ever needed was high self-esteem and will power. Positive thinking, though sounds menial in this context, can work wonders. Try to incorporate everything in life that makes you feel special and enlightens you. And, most importantly, seek help from elders, like your teachers, counselors, and parents, they really care for you!

So, whenever you feel like smoking the next time, write down a blog on why you shouldn't!

Having good mental health is key to the healthy development and well-being of every child. Children need good mental health - not only to be able to deal with challenges and adapt to change, but so they can feel good about themselves, build healthy relationships with others and enjoy life.

It is said that you must treat your body like a temple and the greatest of pillars have the strongest of bases. If your body is that pillar then your mind is that base. The discourse around mental health in school has exponentially increased and the Health and Mind Club has played a massive role in making that happen. It gives me immense pleasure to be leading the club and encouraging our members to use the club as a catalyst for the mental well being of the school. We strive to stamp out the stigma and provide an all inviting, all accepting platform.

Ask us anything :)

Thanks! We will get back to you very shortly

Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It's about how you drive, not where you're going."
Mental health is equally important as physical health. It includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, which affects our day to day life.
The aim of the Health & Mind Club is to  ensure that we students have a healthy and positive mindset.
